Philippine Fashion Week 2007 Review: Part One

Just look at what our talented designers have come up with for Philippine Fashion Week 2007. Haute couture or runway manure? Be the judge:

How Lapu Lapu killed Magellan:
Heart-attack by laughter.

Over-sized shaved vagina shades, anyone?

Boyz and ghels, drink your Birch Tree!

Jingle bells, jingle bells...

Ang mga batang yagit: 20 years later

Walking shredder garbage

Rodent-killer diva

Casper the friendly ghost turned Chippendale dancer

Giant pillow case is the new black

Post ear surgery mini-mouse.

They're bringing "curtains" back.

Who raided Mama Ricky' Reyes's closet?

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones..

Picks up signals from the moon

Going to the wet market

WTF? moment

Mmm. Nice basket.

what is it with couture? it's like the weirder it looks the more it's applauded.

parang "hindi niyo ma-gets kasi hindi kayo fasyon!"

somebody should point out that the emperor is actually naked :p

I see you're a lawyer... which pretty much makes you a very unreliable fashion critic who knows very little about art or couture for that matter. Although some of the outfits are really hideous, some are already being shoot by top local magazines such as Preview as we speak (i.e. "walking garbage shredder" and "picks up signals from the moon"). Clearly, the ones who definitely have a keen eye in couture can really differentiate between what is acceptable couture from over-the-top-senseless pieces as opposed to nobodies such as yourself who have yet to learn a lot before you can call yourself worthy of such reviews. You're no Cecile Van Straten or Celine Lopez.

Executive Joey Espino was actually raving about the 6th outfit... It was of braided nude beige chiffon. Was there that night. Heard Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Mierelles ordered the outfit for an upcoming event.

Ha??? kilala mo ba sya in real life para masabi mo na he knows little about the subject. even if that's the case, people need no "keen eye in couture" ek-ek to recognize bullshit and distinguish it from the sublime. minsan we cannot articulate our views in design concepts...but if asked the right questions, we'd be able to say what we like aesthetically.
you remind me of people who go to museums to look at art, tapos magpipilit na hanapin ang kung ano anong profound meanings sa paintings or whatever works of art. swerte mo na lang kung talagang may meaning sa yo pero kung wala, eh di wala. Okay lang yun. hindi dapat ikamatay kung di mo ma-gets. it doesn't mean na kelangan may phd ka sa art appreciation to say what you think or feel about the work.

its totally visual pangit sa paningin pangit na talaga. Bongga ka! We share the same sentiments.

i don't think you are trying to be Cecile Van Straten or Celine Lopez. i share the same sentiments while viewing the pictures. i really don't get why fashion can't be functional sometimes. they're usually over the top and unwearable. or it's just me. if those pictures define high fashion then that's definitely beyond my reach. i bet those models wouldn't even wear those pieces beyond the catwalk, save for a few. anyway, what's written above is just your opinion. and this is my opinion. and they can't sue you, lawyer or law student. ^^

Bongga kayo!

And why the hell should anybody care about Joey Espino's reactions? Though I know who Joey Espino is in the fashion industry, that doesn't mean other people have not right to negatively react to things he's been raving about. Kanya-kanya tayong taste eh.

I personally liked designs #4 & #6. But that doesn't make your review any less funny and original. =) Thanks for making me smile today.

Totally Hilarious! I think that the Manila Fashion Set is trying to be so avant garde that they have forgotten the simple rule of keeping things marketable. Some of the pieces--fine, all of the pieces-- are just plain old fugly! Especially the giant pillowcase!

"giant pillowcase is the new black" - LOL !!

Ka-ching! Sobrang on the money yung ibang comments mo! Although there are like two outfits that could be "fixed" and will actually be presentable. Thanks for making me laugh!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I actually didn't get to watch most of the other shows and I didn't know they showcased vagina-inspired pieces! Buti walang MTRCB! LOL. =D

Magandang gabi,Ginoong Hubs.

lmoa "how lapu lapu killed" magelan....hahahahahahahahahahah

Celine Lopez? Who u? Not because you have the money, you can buy your right to become authority on fashion...and becoming a model- eh napaka ordinaryo ng itsura nya eh- kahit sa palengke makakakita ako ng kamukha nya..tanggalin kaya nya yung Lopez sa pangalan nya tignan natin kung saan makarating yan...

Couture daw o!

hahaha. excellent review. we have a lot of really excellent artists in the fashion industry... here's hoping some of them can stop hiding the lack of talent by claiming art. WTF u say? WTF i say as well. LOL. keep it up sir. :)
